2008-2009 Uniform Policy
Students at Williams Magnet School are required to wear our adopted student uniform. This applies to students enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 5.
Parents will be notified if students are not in compliance with these policies.

GENERAL DIRECTIONS
*No logos or writing are allowed on any clothing, including coats and jackets.
*No "starter" jackets.
*"Hoodies" are not allowed.
*All shirts must be worn tucked in.
*Shorts, pants, split skirts, skirts and skorts with belt loops must be worn with belts. Parents will be called to bring belts to school if forgotten. Please do not remove existing belt loops from clothing items.
*Solid red, white or navy socks are required. Crew socks may be worn. Ankle/anklet socks are not allowed.
*Jumpers, split skirts and shorts must be worn with complete uniforms.
*All shorts/skorts/skirts/jumpers must be within 2 inches of the knee.
*No sunglasses, caps, or hats will be worn at any time.
*Students' hair should be neatly trimmed and clean.
*Cosmetic make-up is not appropriate.
*Blue uniform shorts may be used as P.E. uniform wear. The white P.E. uniform shirt with the school emblem may be worn as part of the school uniform. The red P.E. uniform shorts may be worn to P.E. class ONLY.
*Tennis shoes and gym uniforms are required for physical education in all grades except kindergarten.
*Open-toed or open-back shoes are not permitted for safety reasons.
*CROCS are not allowed.
*No V Neck jumpers.
*No cargo pockets.
*No piping or trims.
*No corduroy.
*No denim.
*Williams plaid is an exclusive red/white/blue only available at the Toggery or School Days Discount Uniforms.

SHOES/SOCKS:
Shoes must always be worn with socks. Socks must be red, white, or navy. All socks must be clearly visible above the ankles.
*NO ANKLE SOCKS OR "NO-SEE-UM'S" ALLOWED
*No open-toed or open heel shoes or sandals.
*No platform shoes or CROCS.

SHIRTS:
Red, white, or navy only, in solid colors.
Short sleeved, long sleeved, or turtlenecks.
Polyester, poly cotton, 100% cotton fabrics. .
Girls may wear long or short sleeve blouses with rounded collars or turtlenecks. No piping allowed.
*No trim, piping, logos or designs.
*No corduroy.
*All shirts must be worn tucked in at all times.

SHORTS & SKORTS:
Solid navy uniform shorts only, no cargo pockets.
Skorts may be in navy or Williams exclusive plaid.
Twill, polyester, poly cotton, 100% cotton allowed.
Plain or pleated front.
Shorts and skorts may only be worn at designated times of the school year, indicated on the school calendar. (No shorts/skorts in late fall and winter.)
*LENGTH MUST BE NO MORE THAN TWO INCHES ABOVE OR BELOW THE KNEE.
*No carpenter/painter pockets.
*No cargo pants or pockets.
*No trim, piping, logos, or designs.
*No corduroy.
*No denim.

PANTS:
Solid navy uniform pants only.
Pleated or plain front.
Fabric may be twill, polyester, poly cotton, 100% cotton.
*Belts must be worn if pants have belt loops.
*No corduroy.
*No cargo pants.
*No painter pants.
*No carpenter pants.
*No denim.

SKIRTS:
Solid navy or Williams exclusive plaid only.
A-line, pleated, or full. Side pockets are allowed.
Twill, polyester, poly cotton, 100% cotton allowed.
*No straight skirts allowed.
*No corduroy or denim.

JUMPERS:
Solid navy or Williams exclusive plaid only.
Style: Rounded neck with drop waist and pleats.
*No "V" Necklines allowed.

SWEATERS: Navy, red, or white solid color cardigan style only.
*No oversizing allowed.

WILLIAMS MAGNET SPIRIT SHIRTS:
Red sweatshirt with Williams logo on the front.
Long sleeve pullover style, to be worn with regular shirt with collar.
*No other pullovers OR HOODIES are allowed.
*No oversizing allowed.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORM:
P.E. uniforms must be purchased from The Toggery or from the PTA sale at August registration. The PE uniform shirt is white with the red Williams logo and may be worn as part of the regular uniform on any school day. The red PE uniform shorts may be worn to PE class only. Only regular athletic shoes are allowed in P.E.
