For this weeks discussion, I am asking that you either “pump” (praise; discuss how great something is) or “dump” (diss; discuss how not great something is) the book Poppy by Avi. Please keep in mind that most students are starting the week off a little over half way through the book. If you are finished, please do not reveal any spoilers. For either position that you may take in this discussion, you need to include support. Don’t just state, “The book is really great.” I would prefer that you state something more like, “I enjoy reading ____________ because it reminds me of _______.” Have fun and stay on topic!

This past week we read an article in Scholastic News on the possibility of adding a tax for consumers of softdrinks. The article included a poll that asked students, like yourselves, what they thought. I would like for you to post your thoughts on this controversial issue.
